Opening at McMullen Gallery Monday, April 4 and running until May 1, Retreat marks the end of the residency undertaken by Bradley Necyk, in collaboration with the University of Alberta Hospital’s Transplant Services. During this time, Necyk has worked closely with patients to gain an understanding of what it means, from their perspective, to interact with the hospital regularly as a person waiting for, and in some cases receiving, a transplant.

Friends of University Hospitals is proud to present Bradley Necyk’s short film Alberta at Metro Cinema, another project completed as a part of his artist residency with the organization in the hospital.
The film is heavily influenced by real stories recounted to Brad through interviews with living donors, and family members of donors that have deceased.
A panel discussion will follow the film including the artist and guests.
